Hotel is set in lovely grounds, nice to have a walk around and next door to beautiful Horsley Towers. Attentiveness of staff exceptional both prior to & during stay. I had mistakenly booked the wrong dates when initially booking. I contacted the hotel just 24 hours before my stay and they were able to amend the dates with no change to cost. Shortly after checking in to my room I identified an issue with the electrics in the room. They were able to move me immediately & without fuss, keeping me in a neighbouring room to the rest of my party. We must've got lucky with timings as we had the pool to ourselves for the majority of time we used it. It was warm & clean, ideal for kids. Reception also arranged a local taxi for a local dinner reservation. Breakfast buffet selection was very good.

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and a nice part of the country. There is a lot to see and do in the area. It is a big conference hotel, so don't expect boutique but that said, it has been a great place to stay, and one I would come back to. Staff were super helpful and put us in a very quiet room away from a larger conference group. The room was like the picture when booking: contemporary furnishings and well equipped. Very comfy bed and a nice bathroom. The hotel also has a well equipped gym and a nice size pool which were available to use before out room was ready. The breakfast was very good, and the hotel has refreshment drinks areas throughout the complex. Nice to have another cuppa and then sitting in one of the many courtyars to read the papers.

Breakfast room was nice and airy and tables were laid nicely and vacated tables cleared promptly. The breakfast was a buffet style with a large choice of options. The fresh fruit and yoghurt was nice and I had some of the healthier options on the hot aisle such as mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and scrambled egg. I certainly felt like I had a hearty breakfast but being buffet you could certainly eat loads if desired! There was plentiful free parking and I would definitely stay again and hopefully allow more time to explore the estate and use the swimming pool etc. Unfortunately we arrived quite late in the evening and had to leave after an early breakfast due to catching a flight from Gatwick.

Have to own up: for some unknown reason, we were upgraded to the Towers, where all the best rooms are. So, given the modest price we paid, we received an exceptional night's stay. The Towers is an extraordinary mid-19th century, neo-Gothic Earl's residence. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the architecture is grand, there is a lake and acres of grounds. A kindly member of staff let us see the extraordinary "cloisters" and chapel. Excellent value breakfast, where - unlike so many hotels these days - there were plenty of staff and service was sharp and efficient.

Really quite a beautiful main set of buildings in the estate connected together in a way that makes it feel like a single building. The old mansion does not seem to be in use, but is fun to walk through. It was the main home of Lady Lovelace, the woman who wrote the first computer algorithm in 1835. Coming from a computer background that was particularly interesting to discover. The food was very good and an excellent variety. Plenty of places to relax; good meeting rooms, and a large restaurant. Nice grounds to walk on.
